Buyer Purchasing
Local Medical Device Manufacturer is seeking an experienced buyer for their busy manufacturing facility located in Chicopee
The Buyer is responsible for the procurement of raw materials and supplies at the best cost possible without sacrificing quality and reliable delivery. Interaction with various individuals and disciplines both within the organization as well as outside the organization is essential. Internal interaction with Engineering, Quality, and Production personnel is required at all levels in order to accurately assess company requirements to determine what is to be purchased, quantity ordered and when to schedule delivery. Externally good open lines of communication with suppliers is essential in order to clearly state company needs and to foster supplier/customer partnerships.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
1. Review material and supply requirements and production schedules (including MRP, open orders and inventory on hand) to discern all required actions to be taken such as planned orders, expediting, de-expedite, cancelling etc.
2. Manage inventory levels to maximize inventory turnover and minimize costs.
3. Select and monitor suppliers based upon quality, delivery, price, support and reliability.
4. Interact with suppliers in areas regarding price negotiations, cost reductions, delivery, product improvement, quality issues, and supplier audits.
5. Manage and creates relationships with key suppliers and secondary suppliers.
6. Obtain RFQ's.
7. Interface with inspection, suppliers and others regarding defective goods to determine the origin and take corrective action.
8. Identify and resolve shipment discrepancies and other issues.
9. Create and maintain meaningful set of metrics for the supply chain area.
10. Work closely with Production, Quality and Engineering.
11. Interact with Material's Planner as needed
Qualifications:
Associates degree or higher in a relevant field required such as Supply Chain preferred
Minimum of 5 years' experience in Purchasing/Manufacturing with strong negotiation skills
Direct MRP experience
Industry Certification preferred
Knowledge of transportation including importation and customs regulations
Strong organizational and analytical skills including spreadsheets and cost modeling
Exceptional verbal and written communication
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with personnel at all levels
Ability to multi task with the ability to work well with others in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Self-starter with strong organizational and problem solving skills.
Proficient in Word, Excel, MRP/ERP software
Salary will depend upon experienceEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
